Overview
The Army Body Fat Calculator is a free tool that runs in your browser. The measurements you enter — weight, abdominal circumference, age, and sex — are processed on your device to compute a result and never leave it. There are no accounts, no contact forms, and no server that receives your inputs. We do use Google Analytics to see aggregate traffic, described below.
What we collect
No personal data — we never ask for your name, email, or any identifying information, and your measurements are never transmitted anywhere. We do use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate traffic: page views, approximate (city-level) location, and device or browser type. GA4 stores a random client identifier in a cookie; it is not tied to your real identity. Our host also keeps standard server logs for security and reliability.
Cookies & local storage
Your browser's local storage holds your preferences, such as the light/dark theme. Google Analytics sets cookies to recognize returning visitors and group page views into sessions. We do not set advertising, retargeting, or cross-site tracking cookies, and we have not enabled Google's advertising features.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic — which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from — so we can improve the tool. GA4 sets cookies and a random client ID and is used for aggregate insight only, never to identify you; Google Ads and advertising signals are turned off. You can opt out site-wide with Google's official browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking analytics cookies in your browser.
Third-party services
The site is served by our hosting provider (Cloudflare), which keeps standard server logs as described above. Google Analytics is loaded from Google's servers (googletagmanager.com and google-analytics.com). Fonts are self-hosted — we do not load Google Fonts or any external font CDN. We embed no ad networks or social media pixels.
Your rights
We hold no personal profile about you to access, correct, or delete. Google Analytics data is pseudonymous — a random identifier, not your name — and you can opt out of it at any time via Google's add-on or your browser's cookie controls. The preferences in your browser's local storage can be cleared through your browser settings. Where laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA grant data rights, they apply to personal data, which we do not hold.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for a general adult audience — service members, recruits, and people interested in the Army standard. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. Any change will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
